Much like the franchise, biotechnology companies can focus on
developing a diverse intellectual property portfolio to build and protect their
brand. While
we don’t have the same type of droids seen in the Star Wars universe, many
brands are integrating artificial intelligence (A/I) and machine learning (M/L)
into their methods or novel inventions to help advance medical technology.
“Well, if droids could think, there’d be none of us here, would there?” — Obi-Wan Kenobi
While
many AI/ML patents are likely to receive Alice rejections, due to their
alleged abstract nature, a strong IP prosecution strategy will help overcome
those rejections. Diversifying and protecting your brands interface, logo, or
systems/methods are another way to leverage your IP and create a successful
user experience to associate with your brand.
